2020 BC Provincial Election

General Voting Day is Saturday October 24th, 2020.

How do I vote in the 2020 BC Provincial Election?

You can vote in person on October 24th or one of the advance voting days (Thursday, October 15 to Wednesday, October 21 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.), vote by mail, or vote at a district electoral office any time it’s open.

How do I vote by mail?

Anyone can vote by mail—you don’t need a special reason. If this is the best option for you, you can order your vote-by-mail package online here.

Note that Elections BC needs to have received your vote-by-mail package by 8:00 pm on October 24th. The deadline to order a vote-by-mail package is October 17th.

Check out these instructions if you’ve got a vote-by-mail package and you’re not sure how to fill it out, or just want to make sure you’re doing it right!

Where do I go to vote in person?

Do I need to have registered in advance in order to vote?

No! The deadline to register in advance was September 26th, but don’t worry if you missed it: this was only a time-saving step. You can still register to vote when you vote in person, it just might take a few minutes. If you’re voting by mail-in-ballot and your information is out of date, you’ll need to take a few additional steps as part of the mail-in package, such as sending in copies of your identification. For more information, click here.

What do I need to bring with me in order to vote?

  • Your ID (see below for details)
  • The Where to Vote card you received in the mail
  • Your own pen or pencil (if you wish)
  • A mask (if you wish). You will not be asked to remove your mask in order to vote.

Do I need to bring ID with me to vote?

Yes! All voters will need to show ID and confirm their address before voting. For more information on what ID is acceptable, click here.

What’s being done to make sure voting in person is Covid-safe?
